Positive

This isn't always the easiest topic to talk about. Especially when you aren't feeling positive about yourself or about the situation you are in. However i believe it is imperative that we all receive a little bit of positive encouragement throughout our days. Being positive isn't easy for everyone, it can take time, and patience. But hey, YOU GOT THIS!

I have had a list up on the inside of one of my cupboards. It is a list of positive ways to encourage or compliment someone. Its a simple way of remembering we all need to uplift each other. It's nice to have a variety, so you aren't using the same phrase. What positive compliments have you remembered? How did they make you feel?

Try to focus on encouraging someone at least once a day. Whether the compliment be to your child, your spouse, or yourself. Say it out loud. Yes, especially if it is to yourself. "Way to go for showering today!" OR... "I love that you noticed me this morning", or possibly "I love that you picked up your blanket off the floor!" Don't forget to be sincere. Children can sense when we are being genuine or not.

While teaching this simple kind gesture of student reassurances and compliments, it will change their behavior. Believe me, they notice when others get called out for attention, whether good or bad. When it is positive attention, it becomes contagious, and others want to please the teacher as well. That positive attention becomes a domino affect. The other children will notice that you noticed, and want the same praise and recognition.

You freaking ROCK!
